As with all of my work prior to 1990, my imagery presented a female figure in a controlled, interior space.  Individually, or in pairs, they were staged to fit a pre-conceived notion of what should be.  That situation isolated the figure from her natural environment.  It was a timeless space where the figures performed simple physical gestures:  bending, sitting, walking.  The woman was specific, yet anonymous.  The implied drama was internal as well as external.  In this series, the viewer completes the cycle of observation – who is looking at whom?
