SERIES | LOST AND FOUND 2011-2012 (TEXTILES)
This series is my third collaboration and exhibition at Galerie Tom Blaess in Bern, Switzerland. A “lost and found” is an area where visitors can go to retrieve lost articles that may have been found by other visitors. It is an appropriate title for this body of work, since I continue to integrate my own imagery with illustrations from vintage books and contemporary media, which I redraw, edit and reassemble.
This group of work was inspired by my large vintage linen handkerchief collection and some toile-patterned fabric that I have. The woven backgrounds for these drawings came from scanning white linen handkerchiefs from my collection; printed hankies were mine from my adolescent years -- I still have them!
